Your ideas relate to an ideal scenario, and even I have myself mentioned that matching of profession and the line of interest is the best scenario, but keep the following things in mind-

Our education system till 10th (unfortunately for many till even longer) does not unfold the mental faculties of the students. If in such a case the students are given full independence without the parent's involvement, it is more likely that their immature mental faculties lead them towards a wrong direction....Remember the sand needs somebody to put into the shape...the same sand can be given the shape of a pot or the same sand can become the brick of a magnificient building..

As you have correctly mentioned, the students need counselling, the first stage of counselling is at home by parents, by elder brother sisters, by cousions. Lately by neighbours or by the wisdom of the contributors from PUNJABIZM....This is the only reason why I have initiated this topic...And I am feeling happy that users on punjabizm are taking interest in this topic...other than just taking interest in shayari etc..

for the purpose at hand.......very well said k uptiil 10th standard a child's mind is an blank slate upon which experience writes......no doubt teachers and family play a major role in tht.......but aftr passing 10th i guess thy r mature enough to explore all the possibilities available and if needed parents and elders are alwaz thr as solid support.....pr let him try atleast what he thinks is good for him.Mein ideal scenerio di nahi respnsible decision taking ability di gal kr rehi aa.........one should feel responsible for himself and prove himself.
