Mai sad hai kay tuhanu is no haan lagda hai, par jay boli ik tha rukay ravay, kaday aggay nahi hundi, tay jis zubanaan rukha jandiaa, harkay vaar ho jandiaan, taa hee taa bahut ghat lok punjabi parh day, tay vadh Hindi, Urdu atay English parhday hai...I think we need to try new things, and some times break the rules, This poem was not designed to be great Literature, but manuipulation of language..Sureal...

Maavi Ji

Tuhanda hint taan mai samjha giya..in my defense all I can say is that this poem is one example, but that does not mean all baagi batti writing is like this,,I hope I am not one of those destroying the Punjabi language..I hope to contribute to it by reflecting, hopes, views, asperations of new generation...Now when you look at English in India and Pakistan it is Victorian, and so out of date with English as it is in the orginal country...many people I have seen coming from India who speak English are startled at how alien modern English is to them, as the English they speak is purer than Modern English, and many times I see modern English folk laugh at them, because the language used here has moved on...so I know you are defending pure Punjabi, but things move on...that said I accept wholly your point that one should not just follow bad practise just because it is new, so in my defense, I will say, look at other things I have experimented in and written in, and then please judge the overall...see links below of samples of Baagi Batti writing...

I do find it refreshing that someone ( in this case your good self) actually questions what I write and does not just say vaah vaah...positive debate is vital....

Please also note I am not born and bred Punjabi from Punjab, but a UK RAISED Englishman- British Punjabi...on that basis I am trying to adapt my writings to fit in with the mindset of those in UK, in order for them to find Punjabi meaningful and interesting, as no one can relate to the pind...a faslaa as wide as that in USA and UK culture, same language, yet very different..

I hope I can be given that leeway...

I hope I am helping to build up confidence for Punjabi Readers and Writers to try new things...that is all
